I’m looking for some books similar to Good Omens, especially the (for lack of a better term) Bible fan-fiction aspects of both the book and the show! (I also absolutely love OFMD and am definitely open to some suggestions for books with similar vibes to that, especially the queer found family and the daddy issues aspects!)

    1. [When the Angels Left the Old Country](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/60420448) is fun! It follows an angel and a demon (both from Jewish folklore) who emigrate together from a small village in Poland to New York City around the turn of the twentieth century. The stakes are much lower than Good Omens, and it’s more folklore inspired than biblical, but there is definitely a lot of queer found family going on.

The master and margarita – bulgakov, (super surreal, I think Jesus and Pontius Pilot are in that book at the end, as are vampires and a machine-gun toting cat)

Law of Love – Esquival (Angels and Demons in this one, alongside a heavy reliance on astrology)

      (Not as good matches!)

Lamb – Moore (reimagines Jesus’ childhood, Moore is silly and warm but definitely different from Terry Prachett or Neil Gaiman)

Isaac Bashevis Singer (author) – Jewish mysticism, magical realism, heavy reliance on Hasidic culture (which he describes in detail, so you don’t have to know it) Angels, demons, goblins and regular people in his stories and so gorgeously written. Not Christian cannon though.
