    I think it’s a crime that Susanna Clarke hasn’t got more novels (though I understand that it’s not her fault).

    I’m just in love with her characters and atmospheric writing. Anyway, does anyone have any similar recs?

    I’d rather the setting was somewhere around the period 1800-1960, preferably with magic? Bonus points if it’s queer haha but not required. Cheers 🙂

    1. Babel! It’s a “tonal retort” to Jonathan Strange, and in my opinion a better book. Similar in vibes, but much more political.
