I recently got an Audible subscription, and it allows me to “read” more again, despite my limited mental energy. So I’m looking for book recommendations. I know it sounds kinda edgy, but I usually don’t read fiction that much, primarily because I don’t care about people enough. It particularly puts me off of many “post-apocalyptic” stories because they’re just character dramas, but a nuke exploded a few years ago.
Instead, I do enjoy stories that focus on world-building, particularly post-/peri-apocalyptical, particularly nuclear apocalypse. My favorite example is probably “Warday”, with its zombie spin-off “World War Z”. I also enjoyed “Arclight” and “The Third World War” (hence peri-apocalyptical). A bit of an exception might be “Jam”, which focuses primarily on the people, but in a way that wouldn’t work if it *wasn’t* an apocalypse. For non-apocalyptic examples, there are also Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness” and “Shadow out of Time” for focus on world-building.
Any suggestions are welcome, even books that aren’t necessarily apocalyptical, if they have a strong focus on the world and not much on people.

The Ministry For the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. It’s not about nuclear apocalypse, but it is peri-apocalyptic. Half of it is written in a way that resembles non-fiction, so only the other half really focuses on the characters, the rest is about the world.
I read that as Peri-peri-apocalyptic and now I want Nandos.
