I’m not sure if this is the correct subreddit to ask this in, but i’ll give it a shot. There’s this girl from my school who I really like (I’m also a girl, if that matters) and I have been considering getting her a book instead of the usual roses and chocolate on Valentines. I will also be getting the normal things, but i feel a book is a great idea, since i’ve seen she’s really into reading. We’re middle schoolers, so i think a book that’s not too explicit would be best. I’ve seen her reading Lessons In Chemistry, A Good Girl’s Murder Guide and The Thursday Murder Club. I do believe I might have a chance with her, so i don’t want to blow this. If anyone is a fan of those books and has recommendations of what book i should get her, i’d really appreciate it! I also think she reads Jane Austen, because she has multiple stickers with quotes from her on her locker. Thanks!

The Lying Woods by Ashley Elston (YA/Mystery/Thriller), this is a standalone book.

Truly, Devious by Maureen Johnson (YA/Mystery/Thriller), this is the first book in a series.

This is only technically a book, but you can buy purses made of old books on Etsy, and I know I’ve seen Jane Austen ones

Oh I love this! Ok here are my recs

If she read a good girls guide to murder, she would like Two Can Keep a Secret. It’s a whodunit type book

Good Omens is a good supernatural book about an angel and a demom who are best friends and ha e to save the world. Based on the prime tv show.

If she is a Austen girl, try and fine a vintage copy of one of the books. Nothing super old, but there are tons of old looking hardcover austen books from the 80s. Most second hand bookstores would have them.

There is also a murder mystery on Jack the ripper but I don’t recall the name. I will need to get back to you on that.

Also, try an Agatha cristie book.

    4. Catfishing on Catnet by Naomi Kritzer is a great read, it has a sequel if she likes it (and the sequel has a sweet romance with two girls, totally age appropriate)

Sounds like you don’t know her at all well. And Valentine’s Day is months from now.

For heaven’s sake don’t buy her a book. at ;least not at the moment. That could seem odd or extravagant or even alarming. Much better to take any reasonable opportunity you might have to start a conversation–i.e. if you come across her when she’s reading you might ask ‘What’s that book like?’

Fair play to you for acknowledging that she’s a crush, instead of going all creepy about the love you should share and that sort of thing.

    6. I don’t have any suggestions, but I wanted to say that I think this is a great idea. A book is such a sweet & personal gift. Make sure you read whatever you get her, so you can talk about it with her.
