Agatha Christie is my favorite author, my favorite book of hers (as of now) is Death On The Nile. I want something of that vibe. I have attention span issues and want some kind of old timey detective to shock me lmao.

I’ve also enjoyed Gone To See The River Man & And Then There Were None

(I feel the need to specify that I’ve read more than three books in my time 💀)

    1. If you’re into Christie, I can recommend The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey (see also Shilling For Candles). Old school Murder mystery but I found the writing very compelling.

    2. Good rec, that Redditor who suggested Tey; old-fashioned yes, but loads of atmosphere and mystery.

Brat Farrar is another brilliant one of hers; a man returns to his home after many years away; is he the Lost Son or is he an impostor??

Another ‘old-timey’ writer is Ngaio Marsh, why not try the rather weird Off With His Head, in which someone dies during a recreation of a medieval ritual…

    3. Anytime Christie is mentioned, I will always recommend “Murder In Mesopotamia”, “Hercule Poirot’s Christmas” and “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”.

    4. Recently finished The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and the ending definitely threw me for a loop
