I get to choose the next book we read and I have a few ideas but looking for something along the lines of what we have enjoyed previously but also trying to widen our subjects/topics.
We have read:
The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen
Ask the Dust by John Fante
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
No Great Mischief by Alistair MacLeod
Overstory by Richard Powers
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry

There are big time Cormac McCarthy and Jonathan Franzen fans in the club. I don’t want to strictly cater to them but something in that vein is preferrable. My last choice was Vuong’s work that brought some wonderful back and forth discussion.

I am currently thinking of or these are my choices right now:
Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane (I have 2 young children including a daughter so not sure if I totally want to read it)
American Pastoral by Philip Roth
Rabbit, Run by John Updike

Any other suggestions or which to choose of the above are highly appreciated:
