Hey y’all, I’m looking for a long fantasy (high, low, dark, epic, anything) series. I have about 11 hours a day (awesome job) to spend listening to audiobooks, and I’ve just spent the past year listening to critical role. I have started reading asoiaf but I’m suffering from long wait times from my local library. I have also read lotr and the hobbit. If y’all have any reccomendations they would be greatly appreciated 🙂

{{Discworld by Terry Pratchett}} has over 40 books spread over roughly 8 sub series. Start with Guards! Guards! if you can, but you can technically read in any order which makes it a great option if you’re looking to borrow from the library. Looks like my libraries have about half of them, starting with the 12th book.

If you like ASOIAF, I’d suggest The Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. It’s also medieval political intrigue in situations that don’t allow a perfect solution, but on a smaller scale and complete at 16 books divided into 4 story arcs.

      The first is Assassin’s Apprentice

    3. I totally suggest listening to the Critical Role books if you haven’t yet!

I’ve been adoring the Star Wars audiobooks lately – The High Republic is awesome since it has new characters and new villains other than the Sith.

I really enjoy Natalie Naudus as a narrator and she’s done some great fantasy novels!

    4. Otherland by Tad Williams

The wealthiest have created online worlds that make real their wild, absurd, and sometimes brutal fantasies. A brave group of disparate characters are trapped and travelling world to world seeking an exit…only… One of them is a fraud and a killer!

It’s 4 books, each large enough to double as a small bridge in an emergency.

The Belgariad, The Mallorean, Belgarath the Sorcerer, and Polgara the Sorceress — total of 12 books by David and Leigh Eddings: Basically tells the story about one family and a few friends to correct a mistake to save the universe and set it back on the right path again. The Belgariad (5 books) start the story, The Mallorean (5 books) finish it. BtS and PtS are prequels and on a first time read I recommend reading them last since the way they start can give accidental spoilers for the main books

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paoloni (5 books plus a spin off) is also pretty decent if you can overlook the fact he was clearly inspired by other stories (including the above books)

    6. I came here to recommend books by Tad Williams, but someone else already has! The Otherland series is sci fi but I believe most of what he has written is fantasy.

I also recommend the author C. J. Cherryh, who, similar to Williams, writes very long books with lots of characters, some sci fi and some fantasy. I read her Chanur series (sci fi) and Fortress series (fantasy) and they were definitely slow paced, but still enjoyable.
