1. Today afternoon, after I finished my lunch in my hostel. I started to read a book about online writing. I kinda enjoyed the content . This book some incredible information about the world of blogging. But my friends saw me reading a book and said what’s point of reading this thing. You are only 19 years old why are you acting like a 24 year old and I said that I am enjoying reading books.
2. It was not common in our college to read fiction and non fiction books as an hobby. But my cousins has a lot of books for me to read. So i had an opportunity to read books. Many of them don’t have that. So they will not bother reading. And also it was not a entertaining thing in a certain way like we have to set our mind to read and really focus on the story or plot. Instead of mindlessly doom scrolling through Instagram.
3. I deleted Instagram an year ago to avoid the distraction of others social life. I instead focus on that really matters to me. Like improving my personality and also my way of thinking. I started reading books a few year ago. So tell what’s your take on this.

You have incredibly immature friends.
Your friend sounds shallow and not very bright
Convinced some people on this website live in an internet cave populated exclusively by 2 bats and some worms.
Its a great thing and the ones who are saying books are for adults they must have never read or understood a book.
There are books available for every age group (and few are for everyone) and for different genres so its up to you to choose and read
Sorry but I’m absolutely losing it as “why are you acting like a 24 year old”. Twenty-four, the ultimate old people age!
No matter what age you are, if you read around people that don’t they won’t always understand. That’s their problem though, not yours. Just do what you enjoy and ignore them.
You’re posting in in r/books so you’re not going to get a balanced opinion.
My balanced opinion (I don’t sub to r/books) is that you should read whatever you want and telling people if any age not to read is not only weird, but stupid.
I was being read to and then reading myself since I was a literal child. I happened to be in a family of readers and I was raised into it (but without it ever being forced on me as an obligation). I came to love it, it is a solace for me throughout many years and I’ve never even considered not doing so.
Any hobby is just that; a hobby, It doesn’t need to be a popular one. Someone may not play football and take up archery. Doesn’t make them a Legolas wannabe (if they are, that;s still based). Anything that makes one have a good time (and is not harmful) is exactly what they should be doing and actual friends should be content with that.
Your friends are dumb. Build yourself up and do the things you enjoy reading.
I’ve been reading novel and longer fiction books since I was 8. Few things in life have brought me the amount of joy and entertainment, as well as education, as reading.
Read whatever you want and fuck the haters. Reading makes you smart, gives you a kind of experience that, while limited, can’t be gotten in such breadth so quickly, and makes you more attractive romantically.
My advice? Delete all your socials, go to your local library, and get yourself some culture.
lol, of course, read as much as you can, no matter if fiction or non-fiction, it makes you wiser and more versatile.
the ones that said why bother reading are not your friends :)) and not because they don t like to read but because they don t even take into consideratiom what you like/your hobbies.
yes honey, it is normal to read. a lot of people don t do it but they should. keep on reading!
So you look that person in the eye, make your own as wide as possible and say “24 year olds **read**?!”
My family was all voracious readers, even my brother the biker. Books open worlds; if someone doesn’t want to expand their horizons, that’s their loss.
Your mind really takes shape between the ages of 16 and 26. You can figure out the rest from there.
I cannot believe this is a question.
Reading books at any age is always a good thing. your friends are wrong.
It’s a good thing to read a book at any age.
I’ve been reading for pleasure since I was a small child. I’ve encouraged my children to read. Most of my friends read.
It seems very strange to me that someone would give you grief for reading. You might search out a better quality of friends.
I think you’d be better off changing circle of friends, they seem not particularly bright or agreeable.
That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
As long as you don’t ask WASP moms the answer will be a resounding that is perfectly fine
