I’d like to read about folks who are lonely and end up finding their people at a local gathering spot. Kind of like the literary version of the TV show “Cheers.” My definition of “gathering spot” is flexible. It could be a pub, another planet…anything. 🙂
I’m a huge fan of Roddy Doyle; he has a few books that meet this requirement: Lonely, interesting characters who meet up at the local pub. What other authors and books would you recommend?
I appreciate this sub so much. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Sorry but not finished yet. A large portion of my book is of this. Almost like commercials in-between driven plot points, yet more relevant and hopefully less annoying.
Some (but not all) of what you’re looking for can be found in Graham Swift’s *Last Orders*. It’s an excellent book.
Iona Iversons Rules for Commuting
I think The Reading List might fit what you are looking for.
Same with Anxious People.

T.W: It’s about suicide
But don’t let It stop you because It’s a really nice book with loving characters that have a gathering spot (and unusual one as you’ll see).
