Looking for a book about a revenge story that only occurs because of a misunderstanding. Me like action, but me like political thrills and deep characterization too.
Any good revenge story will do but I’m really for stories about misplaced anger.
Random example; An old associate visits the main character’s house while they’re away, asking them to rejoin the business. The main character isn’t home, so they leave his old hat on a post outside of his home to let him know they were there. In the meantime, the house burns down for an unrelated reason with the wife still inside, man comes home, sees the hat, and assumed they must have burned the house down. Revenge story ensues.
