A book with great characters that makes you feel tired at the end?

Hello i’m looking for a book where it can either be an adventure or simply a local contest where at the end of the book, I’ll feel similar to the characters where they’d feel “It’s over. It’s finally over. We did it.” I’m sorry if this makes no sense lol. I was thinking of It but I’m worried the book is more horror than characters. I want to be attached to a group of characters who are really close to one another.
