After reading a book, I find the pages get yellowed/black (oily?). Doesn’t seem like washing hands helps, so I’m planning to experiment with gloves to see if that helps. Anyone have any other tips or is this just not preventable? I don’t expect a 1000 page book will be all crisp and white as snow after 1 month of paging through it, but I feel I’m missing something obvious here to prevent this absolute corruption lol

Do you live in a humid environment?
You’re sweating on your books and the book quality isn’t great. People produce a certain amount of moisture – oils and sweat – regardless of what we do, and some inks will smear in that. Environment impacts also change your books, like humidity, temperature, and sunlight. Gloves seem a little extreme. Maybe try to touch the pages less? Hardcovers may be easier and higher quality. Also, books get worn. It’s part of the charm.
