I’m a 20-something agnostic that spends all too much time being afraid of the endless void awaiting me, so I would really like to read something that deals with themes of growing older or death. Classics and Sci-Fi/Fantasy are my main genres.

Cats Cradle by Vonnegut – pay special attention to the death prayer – it’s beyond beautiful
You might enjoy On a Pale Horse
Living with a Wild God: A non-beliver’s search for the truth by Barbara Ehrenreich. It’s not your usual genre, but I think you’ll find it interesting
The Death of Sleep is one of the Planet Pirates books by Anne McCaffrey. It’s a great series with space pirates and dinosaurs and also a MC who ends up in cold sleep and has to deal with missing decades of time and try to assimilate into society when all her connections are gone
Staring at the Sun is the best book I’ve read on the topic. It’s a very good non-religious book by a psychologist on death anxiety.
the darkness outside us by eliot schrefer would be perfect for you!!
Midnight library
The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker
Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro is a very interesting book that deals with this.
Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore.
The fault in our stars.
How We Live Is How We Die, by Pema Chodron
Under the Whispering Door, by TJ Klune
About a recently deceased, grumpy ghost who sets out to live a whole life in the 7 days he’s granted before he’s forced to cross over. Haunting and hilarious.
