i don’t know loads about his reading tastes as he moved out a couple years ago and it’s been hard to figure out his interests since then. when he was younger he read a lot of young adult fiction, think shadowhunters and sarah j maas books, and i know he got really into murakami recently. i got hin ‘taste of the flesh’ for christmas last year and i know he recently read and enjoyed the original fight club and american psycho books. does anyone have any ideas? he studies history and philosophy so i think he would like something with a big plot/that prompts a lot of thought.

If he liked American Psycho, I highly recommend the Hannibal Lecter trilogy. Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal are all excellent books, and reading them would lead to much better understanding of the movies if he’s watched them
Try
This is how you lose the time war – it’s short and it has lots of action
All systems red – murderbot book 1 – it’s a shorter book and it has lots of action about a killer robot who has a crippling addiction to television
The scholomance – I’m not sure if he will like this one because it has a female protagonist but this girl is going to be the big dark which of her time and nobody likes her and she is in a school where everything there is trying to eat her and she has to survive.
