When you imagine the type of movie poster a young “filmbro” college student might put on his dorm room walls, you might imagine stuff like “Pulp Fiction,” “Scarface,” “Interstellar,” and “Fight Club.”
What would be the book equivalents of this archetype? Note that I’m not dismissing any of these types of books and movies—I love almost all of the ones I’ve seen before.
So far, given more recent hullabaloo, the only book that I think definitely matches this reputation is “Blood Meridian,” which is my second favorite book, so I’m not complaining. Perhaps “Watchmen,” “Fight Club,” and “American Psycho”? How about books that haven’t been adapted?

    1. While I don’t really agree with your premise, I think these are what you’re looking for:

Caught Stealing by Charlie Huston (the Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death may even be a better fit.)

      Severance Package by Duane Swierczynski

The Average American Male by Chad Kultgen (and The Lie)

      Fiend by Peter Stenson

      Women by Charles Bukowski

The Fool’s Progress by Edward Abbey

      Gun Monkeys by Victor Gischler

      Galveston by Nic Pizzolatto
