I read a post that says real good is interesting but it’s boring in fiction, real evil is boring but it’s interesting in fiction. I also see many people want more evil or ”piece of shit” characters.

They have their reasons but I want to see good be interesting. Maybe they lose a lot of opportunities and respect for doing the right thing or it’s just not popular and they get made fun of. Maybe it doesn’t give them any inner satisfaction and they regret the losses/things they miss out on but they choose good anyway. Maybe they’re grappling with looking ‘good’ vs actually being it.

I’d prefer if it didn’t have any ”forgiveness/pacifism at all costs” message. Thank you

    1. There are two novels I know of which look at this interesting idea!

Nick Hornby’s How To Be Good explores how a family try to live out their principles, with mixed results. I’d say it does make ‘goodness’ interesting, or at least something worth discussing.

Unless by Carol Shields is another book where the effort to be actively good can get people into difficult situations…it’s typically a Shields book ie it’s all about the details and the relationships…but it’s not boring.
