Men, recommend me a *non self help* book or series that helped you gain the perspective you needed to become more positive and loving toward both yourself and your life in general
It’s for a male loved one who is going through it and needs a boost. He will not touch a self help book with a ten foot pole.
Arguably a self help book, but more of biography. Either way I don’t believe in self help books and this one really change my perspective on life in the exact ways you mentioned.

Consider Mitch Albom’s book, “Tuesdays with Morrie.” About a guy who finds one of his former college professors, who is seriously ill. Mitch starts to visit Morrie each Tuesday and they talk about the good and bad in life, embracing the beautiful and being rid of much of the bullshit.

For an insightful look at military life during the American Civil War, ‘The Red Badge of Courage’ by Stephen Crane is my go-to suggestion. This novel delves into the psyche of a young soldier grappling with fear and bravery in equal measure.

If you’re interested in the profound effects of war and its impact on soldiers, ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ by Erich Maria Remarque is an absolute must-read. The author’s direct experience of the trenches lends a harrowing authenticity to the narrative that few other books on World War I can match.
