I’m looking for a book that will wrap me up. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a classic but something really well written that will stay with me.
My favorites are:
Count of Monte Cristo, East of Eden, Lonesome Dove, Master & Margarita, Watership Down and recently i loved Legends and Lattes

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
True Grit by Charles Portis
Sometimes a Great Notion by Ken Kesey
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
Elegant and witty prose, characters that are easy to relate to and a good story too !
_I, Claudius_ and _Claudius the God_ by Robert Graves
_Seven Pillars of Wisdom_ by T.E. Lawrence
A Gentleman in Moscow
“‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde is a book I suggest for its exploration of morality and the pursuit of pleasure. Wilde’s only novel is a brilliant blend of gothic horror and Victorian decadence, with a sharp commentary on society’s superficiality.”
The Shellseekers (Rosamund Pike), Gone with the wind (Margaret Mitchell)
You and I share some favorites: LD and CoMC are my two favorites of all time. I read M&M this summer, and found it good. I liked WD too. I would suggest Corelli’s Mandolin, Skellig, and The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
If you’re looking for a big, fat epic like the ones in your post, I just finished GONE WITH THE WIND by Margaret Mitchell and couldn’t put it down — like, “reading it on my phone as I cross the street” type of gripping.
One of the most insightful novels about the human psyche and the question of morality is ‘Crime and Punishment’ by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I recommend it for its deep psychological analysis and the moral dilemmas it presents through the story of Raskolnikov, a destitute and desperate former student.
