A little background – I am recovering postpartum after a complicated pregnancy. I also have postpartum depression (I am undergoing therapy). After having my kids my career has taken a backseat for the past few years. My aim is to get back on track. I also need to be patient with my body and the recovery process, I need to ensure my newborn and the older kid are doing fine. I am trying to ignore all the judgment and criticism I have been facing for the last 4 years from my family and friends for not focusing enough on my career, I have to balance my daily workload.

I get some time for myself on weekends and at night, at that time I want to read something positive. It should **not be a** self-help biography or something about motherhood.

Wintering by Katherine May– a memoir (maybe a bit self-helpish) about a woman experiencing a metaphorical “winter” in her life– illness, family trouble etc.– and writing about the experience of the season too. A beautiful memoir about embracing the lulls and the starkness of these seasons.

I have loved Robin Wall Kimmerer’s books – start with “Braiding Sweetgrass.” She is a botanist, a Native American, a mother, and the book is a wonderful blend of all three.
