I’d like to read books in which there are fat characters that don’t necessarily revolvs around the fatness factor, but other things. can be of any genre, really, but I’d like to read things in which the physical attributes of the fat person are not the main point of contention, even tho they may still be something important but in a secondary way (as in: not the topic around which the main plot develops)

ps. i put “fiction” in the flair because i have to put a flair, but i am open to any genre

    1. Idk how much it revolves around his body, but have you read A Confederacy of Dunces? It’s not for everyone, but it’s pretty entertaining and absurd.

**Thraxas** series by Martin Scott. It’s humorous fantasy with a male mc called Thraxas. People sometimes tease or insult him for his fatness, but in general, it’s not the point of the story at all.

    3. Sorry that this is all kind of dyke lit, it’s just my reading list:

“Martha Moody” by by Susan Stinson is a dreamy story about two fat pioneer women falling in love.

One of the main characters in “Manhunt” by Gretchen Felker-Martin is obese. It’s about a post-apocalyptic world where everyone with high testosterone levels becomes a flesh-eating monster. Her weight impacts her mobility, and she has self-esteem issues, both of which impact the plot, but it’s mostly about zombies and TERFs.

“Moon Creek Road” by Elana Dykewomon is a series of lesbian slice-of-life stories, with a fat protagonist. Dykewomon generally has curvy characters, the love interest in “Beyond the Pale” (historical fiction about Jewish lesbians and labor organizing) is chubby, and IIRC the main character in “Riverfinger Women” (lesbian self-discovery and mild drug smuggling) is described as being fat.

“River of Teeth/American Hippo” novellas by Sarah Gailey are set in an alternate universe where cowboys ride hippos, and one of the main characters is a fat French conwoman who fights with a meteor hammer.

“I’ll Be The One” by Lyla Lee is a sweet little YA novel about a Korean plus-sized teenager in a Kpop competition, and has a male love interest (protagonist is bi). Might focus too much on her weight as a plot point, though.
