Need a Book to Book Club with my grandma

My gram is 83 years old. She is pretty conservative which made the last 7 years a bit difficult as we have very different world views.

As a way to reconnect I have started book clubbing with her weekly. We read a book a month. I am looking for family dramas that will not cause major fights between us. (Let’s avoid politics or anything she could decide is political)
She helped raise me and I need this so we can continue a relationship and I will never have moments of “what if…”

If this post seems familiar, I did post about a year ago, we have read through many of the suggestions!

    1. The Thursday Murder Club. It’s not a family drama, but is a fantastic book filled worth old people being awesome.

    2. Maybe something like The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. An Australian woman inherits a house in Cornwall, the novel weaves together the stories of three women across different time periods that are connected by a mysterious abandoned garden in Cornwall. A little mystery, a little romance, and a very good story.

My grandma really enjoys the Mitford Years books by Jan Karon. Small town, wholesome.

Or maybe All Creatures Great and Small.

Also if you’re considering a book but worried it may have sex or violence in it, look it up on the website doesthedogdie.com.

By the way, this is awesome that you’re trying your bridge the gap rather than lose her over politics.
