I’m brand new to poetry and trying to get into it. There are a couple poems I found online I really like – “Risk” by Anaïs Nin, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost, and “The Summer Day “by May Oliver. They are very accessible for me in that they are brief and I was able to get something from them fairly quickly. This helped me crave more (and make this post). I also appreciate brief explanations in case I get stuck. I don’t mind being challenged by poetry, I just don’t want to be overwhelmed and lose the current motivation I have to dig into some poetry. Any suggestions?

    1. i hope this finds you well by kate baer is incredibly accessible. she takes hate messages she’s received on social media and creates blackout poems out of them in response, each about a sentence long. i think it’d be a great place to start if you’re just getting into poetry.

I would get books like ‘a poem for every day of the year’, or ‘a poem for every night of the year’ etc they are a good introduction to many different poems.
