Lately I overheard a conversation where somebody said that there are differences between the West and the East, one of them being the fact that the Middle East doesn’t want democracy. I feel like it’s far from the truth, that the subject is much deeper than that, and that Middle Eastern people aren’t “just like that” and “don’t want democracy”.
I would like to get educated about the subject and be able to discuss it, so I’m looking for recommendations of books that speak about the relationship between the West and the Middle East, supposed “delivery of democracy”, and the approach that Middle Eastern societies have towards democracy. I’m sorry for sounding ignorant, I know that I should know more about it, but my knowledge about the subject is so small, that I don’t even know where to start.
