My dad is retiring this year and mentioned that he wants to start reading. He’s a pretty typical all-American dad- worked his way up from a blue collar job, three daughters, married to his high school sweetheart, salt of earth kind of man. He said he’s interested in thrillers but doesn’t have preferences beyond that, since reading for fun is really new to him.
I’d like to get him a couple of books for Christmas. The thrillers I read aren’t ones I would necessarily recommend for him. I’d love some suggestions for a starting point for him.

The Jonathon Quinn series by Brett Battles would be my recommendation
Maybe Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer? Not a thriller but a good mixture of investigative and dramatic
Maybe the Jack Reacher book series
My Dad sounds similar to yours and he reads every single John Grisham book that is ever published, so.
My dad loves Dan Brown and James Patterson
My husband loves the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver. He doesn’t read much else, but he’ll recommend Jeffery Deaver to anyone.
