I just finished Riyria Revelations and it was genuinly and amazing story. It has so many elements that makes it pure fun and enjoyment. I’ll list some of the elemente the series had hoping there’s something like that out there.
* Amazing characters and bromance, I just simply loved Royce and Hadrian, their dynamic, banter, the trust between each other was just something that I’ve been looking for in a book and it delivered. It simply just felt wrong when they weren’t together in the plot. The other characters where just as amazing, their development was heartwarming to read. I loved it.
* Fantasy plot, adventurous, light hearted, with hints of darkness here and there. In a way I’m looking for plot like lord of the rings, but a bit more darker or modern. The adventure, the high stakes, the happy ending with a hint of melancholy as we say our goodbyes to these people. In Riyria it started quite simple but the plots and stakes kept getting higher, and in each one there was a hint of what was to come, of an overarching plot. I’m not sure how to explain it, the story wasn’t best but it felt so good to read, going to these characters and people and world felt in a way like home. There was a lot of grimdarkness here but also it had fun things.
* Liveable world building, most of the world felt real, the protagonist didn’t just went their way through the locations of their adventure, small details, characters, lore, made the world feel real and amazing.
I’m already aware about books like Locke Lamora which I totally want to read but I’m waiting to see if more books will be released in this series. I’m also aware of First Law and I’m currently going through it.
