I study a-level english and have to write a 2000 word essay comparing two books. I’ve read The Fall by Albert Camu and Brave New World so thought about comparing one of those to a different book. The annoying thing is that the other book has to be published before 1900.

I haven’t read “The Fall”. But “Brave New World” might contrast well with “The Description of a New World, Called The Blazing-World/The Blazing World” by Margaret Cavendish, published in 1666.
It’s a short read (so not a big commitment if it doesn’t ‘fit’ well for your essay). It’s basically Cavendish speculating about how technology can be used to build a utopian society (and riffing on tech she doesn’t trust, like microscopes).
