    1. Some might regard it as dark but it’s historical fiction using composite characters

“The Exiles” by Christina Baker Kline is about the period in the mid 1800’s when England was colonizing the Australia region. It’s told from the perspective of those who are to “repopulate” the area as convicts exiled there, and from the perspective of the native aboriginal peoples who are being forced to leave the preferred coastal regions by the English newcomers.

Great audiobook available to USA listeners. Has a satisfactory ending. The book will give modern readers some perspective on their “stressful lives”

Not one books but two: Ender’s Game/Ender’s Shadow

The movie Rashomon is classic for doing this, it’s based on the two short stories In a Grove and Rashomon by Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
