    Welcome readers,

Have you ever wanted to ask something but you didn’t feel like it deserved its own post but it isn’t covered by one of our other scheduled posts? Allow us to introduce you to our new Simple Questions thread! Twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, a new Simple Questions thread will be posted for you to ask anything you’d like. And please look for other questions in this thread that you could also answer! A reminder that this is not the thread to ask for book recommendations. All book recommendations should be asked in /r/suggestmeabook or our Weekly Recommendation Thread.

    Thank you and enjoy!

    1. Hey folks, i’m looking for a book from Douglas Kennedy “Fly Over” (2023).

I found it in french “Et c’est ainsi que nous vivrons”, but i wanted to read it in english.

First time something like that happened, i had to check the wikipedia page of the author to find the original title.

      Any clues ?

      Thanks

Does anyone have any information on the author L.G. Burbank? She wrote the Lords of Darkness series?

I already posted this on the subreddit but a mod decided to ruin the chances of this ever getting answered, and requested I waste my time here so…

Back when I was in middle school I got really into this book series called Lords of Darkness. My local library had the first two named Vol.1 The Soulless, and Vol.2 The Ruthless. I heard there was gonna be a third book in a couple of years, now here I am like 18 or so years later I’m here asking what happened? I can’t find any information on the author but apparently there was supposed to be a third book called The Heartless in 2005, and a fourth book called The Hopeless. What happened to the series? Was it canceled? Does the author still do anything? I csnt find anything on her when I look up her name L.G. Burbank or Leslie Burbank

    3. Hey all, I finally got around to reading The Handmaids Tale book. I was really looking forward to it because I heard someone say that you don’t learn the characters real names in the book, just their “Of” names. And I read it and saw that in the very first chapter they reference all the actual names. I then realized I had purchased the tv show tie-in edition. So I went to my local used book store, they had 4 copies in stock. With different covers. I quickly skimmed all of them and they all listed the actual names of the characters. Am I missing something? Are there actually two versions of this book?

    4. Is there a good site or app to use for tracking your book collection? I know you can track owned books on goodreads but I was hoping to track by ISBN so that I can also keep track of which publishing I have. Simple solution is a google doc but I figured I would see if there was something fleshed out that meets my needs first.

    5. I have read these 3 books – Dark Matter, Thin Air, and Wakenhyrst and liked them a lot.
Now I want to buy them for my own collection, I am open to used books.
Can’t find any reasonable price, local bookstores don’t have them. Half price doesn’t have them. Amazon is asking for $44 !!
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

    6. Any booktokers that don’t focus YA, series, fantasy, or romance?

My TikTok feed is filled with people recommending ACOTAR, Colleen Hoover, The Spanish Love Deception, Twisted series, The Cruel Prince, The Love Hypothesis, etc. I’m not judging people who enjoy these types of books, but it’s not my cup of tea. I’ve been trying to find booktokers that cover any type of adult fiction (especially thrillers and horror) but it’s hard to sort through content creators who focus on these genres. Any recommendations?

    7. I might be too late on this, and if so, I’ll ask again on Saturday, but I have a question regarding **Never Let Me Go** by Kazuo Ishiguro, and whether or not something is a spoiler.

TL;DR: Is it a spoiler to know that >!the narrator of Never Let Me Go is a clone, and what the clones are used for!<?

I just finished reading **Klara and the Sun**, and I was reading some reviews for it. Several of them noted similarities between Klara and the narrator of Never Let Me Go. I tried to skip to the next part to avoid spoilers, but I couldn’t help but see them say that the narrator >!is a clone, and also the purpose of the clones in the novel’s setting!<. Now, I know absolutely nothing about the story, so I don’t know if that’s revealed immediately, or if that’s some kind of twist later in the novel. I’ll probably still read it either way, but I guess I’d like to know how big of a deal it is to know that going into it.

    8. I’m hoping I have the correct thread…I’ve written and edited my memoir but I can’t find a way to publish it that doesn’t cost a fortune. Anyone know of a way? TIA.

Are there any assistive apps to help dyslexics read physical books?  I find it is much easier to read ebooks rather than paperbacks.  I like being able to change the font, take notes, and most importantly lookup definitions and pronunciations of words that I do not know with a simple touch of a word.  That last bit is critical to me.  Are there any apps that work as reading companions for physical books?  It would be great to have a single app that can capture text, take notes, and perform live OCR so I can quickly lookup words without having to type them into a dictionary?  Even better would be the ability to manipulate the text size and font (I love OpenDyslexic).

    10. Hello.
I’m looking for an app/website that I can use to keep track of my book collection along with its market price. I know there are websites like Librarything for this kinda stuff, but they don’t list the market prices for the books in a collection. I want an app/website kinda like TCGPlayer or Pricecharting where I can track the prices of my collections, but for books instead of trading cards or video games. Thank you.

    11. Not sure if this is the most recent thread, but I wanted to ask about suggestions regarding Blinkist vs Shortform. From what I’ve read, Blinkist seems to have the larger database to choose from, while Shortform seems to provide more in depth summaries. Curious to know if you feel they’re acceptable substitutes for the actual books, or any experiences you may have had with them. Thanks friends!
