I currently don’t have a particular genre I’m interested in, just in a reading slump and trying to get out of it.
I recently read Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black (YA, horror, supernatural). And I was just struck by the ambience of the book. It felt like everyone was down on their luck, barely surviving, but there was a journey nonetheless. Not my favorite book, but I feel like it sold its tone well.
I want a story with characters in a dark and dangerous city that they have to learn more about to survive. I want skeevy dive bars with friendly bartenders who know too much, rainy alley ways, hiding from dangers, and some good relationships thrown in (romantic or platonic).
I’m down for urban fantasy, mystery, weird, historical, romance. Just anything that can provide that ~vibe~
