I raised the following query and thought it would be straightforward to answer:

* If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
I thought it would be a quick YES. But it seems not so easy to answer really. And this then led me to the question of objective reality and how we know if it really exists. I am of a scientific mindset generally and thought always that there is definitely a basic objective reality outside of us. But then I googled a bit and this is far from certain. So now I am looking for a fascinating and thought provoking book on this issue. I think I am equally interested in why both camps think as they do. What do you recommend?
