Do you also feel like the early 2000s are the best era to set up a thriller/detective book?

It feels like technology is there to make DNA test or something, but it’s not like technology alone is used to solve crimes/mysteries.
Also the world is global enough for travel and communication, but some areas are still unknown/unreachable to create this locked communities kind of feel.
The internet is there but it is still a new thing and still gives a mystery vibe, like searching the web actually takes some skill, instead of checking Facebook and WhatsApp in new movies
