Hi all, I have a 4 year old who recently started reading chapter books at home. She started reading at an exceptionally early nobody-believes-it age. Her preschool teacher doesn’t believe that she’s reading at that high a level and has shrugged off all my questions about book suggestions with a chuckle, and says she doesn’t show interest in reading in class, but “it might happen eventually”. I believe it’s probably because the available books are a little boring for her. At home, she will walk around in a zombie walk, nose deep in a book. Very much a book lover.
Our local librarian did not have any suggestions for me, other than take a look around. We didn’t find anything of interest.
She’s worked her way through a couple of the magic treehouse books, a couple early chapter books about space, and prefers science or space themed books if at all possible. She does not have any interest in what I would consider normal kids chapter books, like Judy blume etc.
I’m struggling to find new books that interest her and would love suggestions for age appropriate books for a voracious reader. Anything about nature, science, space, animals, etc but in chapter book form would be great.
