I’m not much of a reader. And I know I probably should be. The last book I ever read completely was Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I knew her story and how it ended and thus thought I wouldn’t really be taken aback by how it ended. But it turns out I was. Knowing that her journal abruptly ended because she was taken away by the Germans was terrifying in a way.
But I also loved the book for that very reason: it’s her own words. Her own thoughts. It’s not a third person account of something like you’d find in a fictional story. These are someone’s actual written words from a time when their life was on the line.
And that’s something I’m particularly interested in reading now.
