This is my first foray into Shirley Jackson and I’ve heard great things about “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” and “Sundial” and “Haunting of Hill House” but I recently got my hand on a borrowed copy of “The Lottery and Other Stories.” After reading the titular “The Lottery” for the first time, I’m curious if there are any other gems in here that I should check out.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the book for a long amount of time so I can’t realistically read all the stories in this 300-page anthology (though I’m sure they’re all good). Please suggest me some other ones within this collection that I should check out before returning it to its original owner.
