Hi all! Kind of a strange request, but I’ve fallen down a bit of a rabbit hole.
Currently, I have:
9 Years Among the Indians by Herman Lehmann
In the Bosom of the Comanches by T. A Babb
And, The Captured by Scott Zesch
Mainly, I’m looking for accounts (preferably ones that took place west, like in Texas, etc.) of children or teens who lived among Native Americans and then returned to white society. I think what I find interesting outside of the retelling of how these individuals viewed native culture, is the somewhat consistent desire to return back to that way of life even after being reunited with their families.
Thanks again for any suggestions, it’s a bit tough to find this exact type of narrative, especially ones written by the individual themselves (there is one of Cynthia Ann Parker, though it is not written by her).
