Hi! I want to read a book that has magic, but I don’t want the “let’s defeat a villain in the end” idea, and I’d like to avoid physical/magical battles altogether.
If you like cozy fantasy, legend and lattes or the very secret society of irregular witches. If you want something more science fiction, a long way to a small angry planet. Something a little spooky, try Greymist Fair or the ever gorgeous From the Dust Returned (HIGHLY recommend). Something based in Norse mythology, well written, and a bit heart breaking, The Witch’s Heart. A murder mystery, Magic for Liars(I may be mistaken on this one, but I believe there aren’t any magic battles). For something very weird that does have violence but no final villain, The Hike (Drew Magary). For a grown up magic school that’s a tad bleak, Vita Nostra.
