A friend and I love reading the same book simultaneously, but we have different tastes in literature. We usually read one book I suggest, then one she suggest, and so on. And now it’s my turn!
I’m trying to find a fantasy book (or series) with great writing and a good romance story.
She loves a romance more than she likes a good, well-rounded story. I’m the other way around. She is definitely more of a “cliché” / booktok kind of girlie (no judgement here!). We just finished the Shatter me series, per her suggestion. She LOVED it. She had actually read it before, but re-read it just so I would read it with her for the first time.
Surprisingly enough I thought I’d hate it, but I didn’t. Once I got over the writing style (not my cup of tea), it was ok. I definitely would’ve never picked it up if it weren’t for her, nor would I have enjoyed it as I did had I not shared the experience with her. Her enthusiasm definitely made it better than it was.
Anyway, I’ve read Mistborn and loved it. The writing is great, the world building phenomenal, great character development and a pretty sweet romance. So I guess I’m looking for something with those characteristics or similar vibes, so we can both enjoy the book as much as the other!
