I have autism and sometimes i just see an animal that i hyperfixate on for a month, this time its the turtle. Ive been to college for animal behaviour and ecology, now im really looking for a book about turtles that can give me some information. Ive tried searching myself but most of the books i could find were often through a lense of “why we as humans need to do better” and i obviously support that, but thats not what i want to know. I want to learn about their behaviour, their physiology etc etc. any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I haven’t read any of these titles but I think I found some
Just for you, there are very specific Latin words for the study of a thing. So you can look up what is the study of noses and there is a very specific Latin word for that. There is also a specific Latin word for the study of turtles, three in fact.
chelonology textbooks seems to give some better search results,
Sea Turtles: A Complete Guide to Their Biology, Behavior, and Conservation
Seems pretty good.
You know, since we are getting into the textbook area now, you might consider figuring out how you can get a hold of textbooks for cheaper, maybe used books or searching inventory at used bookstores just in case you can get this thing a different way.
Also, if you are willing to get into different subjects, don’t be afraid to give your local used bookstore a walkthrough and to see what they have that interests you. I have found my local used book stores chalk full of textbooks for super cheap so it is easy to find new and interesting things. I understand that they probably won’t have biology books on turtles specifically, but if you are open to other subjects it might be a good way to find new things.
