Hello, it’s my grandads birthday at the end of October and I’d like to get a book with some substance. He likes history non fiction, he’s had some memoirs and biographies which he seems to enjoy too. I think he’s reading historical non fiction from Middle Ages onwards to about the 40s, anything more modern doesn’t seem to gel with him.
I would like to add in that if there’s any suggestions of books that give perspectives of both sides or that evoke empathy or tolerance, that would be a big bonus.
Also if there’s anything non fiction that you think a man of his age, born and raised in London would like, fire away. I’m stuck completely this year.

Do you think he’d like historical (but accurate!) fiction about WW II?
If he’s ok with a WWII setting, All The Light We Cannot See was a really good historical fiction.
