What I enjoy reading varies quite a bit depending on my mood so it's hard to say what exactly it is I'm looking for.
What I like:
Fantasy
Magic
Humour (optional)
What I don't like:
Romance heavy plot
Heavy to read (like I have to work hard to get through it)
Super depressing/ overly sad plot
I want to be pulled into the story and have it feel effortless to read all the way through.
One of my favourite books is The Night Circus. I love the magical, whimsical feel of the book. I like the different timelines and POVs. Everything is described in a beautiful way without me having to read 4 pages about a single tree. It just feels magical, which I guess is what I'd like to get in another book.
I know romance is part of the main plot but I don't feel suffocated by it.
I have listened to the Starless Sea audiobook by Erin Morgenstern as well and enjoyed it. But not as much as the Night Circus.
I read Piranesi recently and enjoyed it. I liked the idea behind this 'magical' house and how massive it is.
I also remember having loved the All Souls trilogy from Deborah Harkness. Again, romance is central to the theme, but I mainly loved the magic and different timelines from the series.
Hopefully this all makes sense 😀
