Anyone have any book recommendations that would suit this Halloween/Spooky season. Or anything that is just super autumnal? I've recently read the haunting of hill house by Shirley Jackson, and loved it. I do love the personification of homes~

I have a copy of Carmilla, edited by Carmen Maria Machado (who I've heard great things about, but haven't read any of her own work yet). I haven't gotten very far with Carmilla, finding it very slow but hoping its just because I haven't read many books in the last handful of years and my attention span is shot.

As a kid I loved those classic books, goosebumps, stories to tell in the dark, etc. I've read a few Stephen King books before years and years ago and I do remember liking them. I just couldn't say which ones they were or if I'd still enjoy them.

I've also recently started The Secret History and while I haven't made it very far I am liking it. I might hold off and continue reading it in November tho, as it feels more fitting for then. But idk.

So with that said, I'm open to many options and different types of stories etc. Anything spooky, horror, thrilling, etc. Or if theres any books that are based in October or even on Halloween.. Halloween heavy storylines could be great. Open to other options too like anything just super autumnal. That would be lovely. Heavier and darker stories, or anything lighthearted. Even short stories or poems. Would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks SO much!

    1. I saw a discussion yesterday asking about books like Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. That sounds like a great recommendation.
