So i picked up reading again about 3 months ago, after years of struggling to open a book because of anxiety/depression yadda yadda

I mostly picked titles I found browsing reddit and reading countless posts. I’d like to hear your suggestions based on what I read in roughly the last 3 months:

The Library at Mount Char – Scott Hawkins
After the banquet – Yukio Mishima
Vorrh -Brian Catling (gonna read the whole triolgy but need a pause right now)
The Road – Cormac McCarthy
Blood Meridian – Cormac McCarthy
Confessions – Minato Kanae
Good Omens – Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
Between two fires – Christopher Buehlman
Piranesi – Susanna Clarke
The kind worth killing – Peter Swanson
There is no Antimemetics division – QNTM
The Adversary – Emmanuel Carrère
The Truth about the Harry Quebert affair – Joel Dicker

The only book I got and didn’t even manage to go past the first 50 pages is: A Declaration of RIghts of Magicians by H.G. Parry.
Please note that I enjoyed pretty much all the other books in this list, of course some more than others. I was leaning toward trying East of Eden by Steinbeck but the plot seem it would be pretty boring for me (still temped tho, since I know it’s considered a masterpiece).

Thank you!

Hey there! It’s great to hear that you’ve been getting back into reading. Based on the books you’ve enjoyed recently, I’d recommend checking out “[The Secret History](https://wydgetlabs.com/?red=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2F1400031702%3F%26tag%3Damznwydget-20%26linkCode%3Dur2%26creative%3D9325%26th%3D1%26language%3Den_US)” by Donna Tartt. It has a similar dark and atmospheric vibe to some of the titles on your list. Also, “[Neverwhere](https://wydgetlabs.com/?red=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2F0063070723%3F%26tag%3Damznwydget-20%26linkCode%3Dur2%26creative%3D9325%26th%3D1%26language%3Den_US)” by Neil Gaiman might be up your alley if you enjoyed “Good Omens.” Happy reading!
I enjoyed McCarthy’s two new books, *The Passenger* and *Stella Maris*. I don’t often re-read books but im gonna re-read those ones.
John Dies at the End and/or Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by Jason Pargin would both tack on nicely to your list.
As a side note, The Library at Mount Char and Good Omens are two of my all-time favorites
