"Try as they might, people have never been able to domesticate the oak tree, whose highly nutritious acorns remain far too bitter for humans to eat."
Putting aside whether modern humans can domesticate an oak tree, I am under the impression that Native American reliance on acorns as a staple food is widely accepted as true. If the rest of this book is full of similar false statements, then I'd rather stop reading. Am I missing something?
