I typically read dark romance books with (admittedly) a bit of smut. I recently got recommended a few mystery books that I LOVED but now I’m desperately trying to find some books that blend the two categories.
The mystery books I read were Girl with a Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larson and the Inheritance games trilogy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
While these books were great in almost every single way, when they were recommended I was told they had a romance subplot… I guess they technically did but it wasn’t quite spicy enough for me being an avid romance reader.
I guess my question is – is there any books that have BOTH a mystery forward plot but also have more romance than just a shared kiss?

Karen Rose writes mysteries with romance, though I don’t recall how explicit they are….also, Nora Roberts has written a number of romantic suspense/mystery novels, not to mention the In Death series as J.D. Robb. Megan Goldin’s Rachel Krall series has some romance in the 2nd book, Dark Corners. Sandra Brown might work too!
