Hi, I'm looking for a book that echoes storys like the film Brittany Runs a Marathon, and similar.
Basically, I'm looking for a story about a woman who is not good at taking care of herself (mentally and physically) and is also bad at taking responsibility for her own life/actions/health. But she learns how to do this through some mechanism. In the film I mentioned she takes up running, obviously, as a challenge and that helps her in other areas of her life. It doesn't have to be a physical mechanism like sports but can be anything such as art, education or music. Something transformative.
Even happier if there's no romance and the protagonist is a middle-aged woman, which seems a bit too niche, but if anyone has a suggestion I'll be very grateful.
Thanks
