I have recently fell into a slump where I start books and DNF because I end up finding they are not for me about mid-way through. This is new to me, and I am not sure why I am picking up a lot of books that I can't get into. I tend to read sf/fantasy but also literary, historical (door stopper sagas) and an occasionally other genres as well, just not horror. I like books that make me think and books that are really immersive because of world-building, original plot, or strong character development. Assume I have read most sci-fi and fanstasy “classics" (Tolkien, Martin, Banks, Asimov, Herbert, LeGuin etc). Books don't need to be sci-fi or fantasy though. Appreciate all of your suggestions and thanks in advance!

Examples of some recent DNF that I didn't hate but could not stay with include (apologies to those who love them): "Babel" , "The Fox Wife", "The Morningside", "The Bone Season"

Recent "It wasn't bad, I liked it": "The Ministry of Time", "The Three Body Problem", "Project Hail Mary", "The Midnight Library", "The Water Knife", "The City of Brass"

Recent loves: "Ancillary Justice", "This is How You Lose the Time War", "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow", "The Covenant of Water", "A Gentleman in Moscow"

All-time favorites: "Watership Down", "Piranesi", "Anathem", "Klara and the Sun", "The Way of Kings", "Cyteen", "The Book of the New Sun", "Otherland", "Little, Big", " Oryx and Crake", "The Sparrow", "Sarum", "Pattern Recognition", "The Carpet Makers", "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

    Thanks again!
