Turning off all screens for a week and need something to read…
Yup been spending too much time on the phone, watching tv, playing video games, need to take a break and reset, I’m looking for something non fiction, that will teach me something of actual value. Thanks!
Say Nothing. Book about the Troubles in Northern Ireland that reads like the best fiction novels. You learn a ton about that period in time in that part of the world and it’s structured beautifully. The same author, Patrick Radden Keefe, has a couple other bangers, but this is the place to start.

I’m sorry I do not have a suggestion but only to say thank you for asking this question. I’ve been on my phone too much lately, too. I can’t completely turn off screens (because of work) but this is a great reminder that I need to stick to my daily limits. I always feel infinitely better when I use screens less. Best of luck on the other side of the detox!!!!!!!!!

Depends on what you consider valuable.
Without context, I would say War and Punishment by Mikhail Zygar (Study of the history and politics leading to the current war against Ukraine)

Not a single suggestion, but I personally enjoy microhistories, and there’s a giant [list](https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1058.Microhistory_Social_Histories_of_Just_One_Thing) on Goodreads.
*The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine* by Rashid Khalidi
