Well this is secret service instead of FBI… but I think you’d still love the **Wayward Pines** trilogy by Blake Crouch (first book is *Pines*). A secret service agent is sent to an idyllic, rural town in Idaho to investigate the disappearance of two colleagues.

But as soon as he arrives, he starts to suspect that there is something seriously wrong with this town. Kind of a stepford wives-type, too-perfect-to-be-real vibe. I can almost guarantee you won’t figure out what’s going on until the book explains it.

Maybe Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series? Not specifically FBI, but a similar idea.

Andrea Penford’s Wrexford and Sloane series isn’t supernatural (at least not so far) but does deal with twisted/spooky science. It’s a historical mystery series.
