I would love a suggestion for a book with an interesting take on apocalyptic events in the thriller or horror genre. I loved Paul Tremblay's the Cabin at the End of the World and Camilla Sten's The Lost Village. They both had intriguing apocalyptic premises, but I was really disappointed by both endings. Does anyone have recommendations in this vein? I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan, but I'm open to anything with an intriguing or unexpected twist!

The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton
I’ve heard a lot of good things about “Tender is the Flesh” by Agustina Bazterrica and it tends to lean horror also with Margaret Atwood’s “Handmaid’s Tale” which I have read and *love*.
Swan Song by Robert McCammon is worth a read.
