I've started to realise that a lot of the new, popular Romance books are not well written. My favourite Romance has to be Emma by Jane Austen, to give some insight as to what my taste is.
l used to delve into Wattpad books as a child, and a lot of the recent popular Romance books l've tried feel like those (SJM books).
There's little realistic passion/longing and the characters make me.. cringe. Most of the female love interests are rude and brash and that seems to be their whole personality, they feel as though they were written by 13 year old girls? The conversations they have aren't interesting, and my concerns include the way the men are written too, they make me cringe.. it's not natural.
I prefer books with kinder female leads, stronger men with more depth to their personalities, and genuine passionate love/longing/ swooning (something like Pride and Prejudice or Emma by Jane Austen).
Please leave your recommendations for a well written Romance book, a series would be better! Also, books with nice covers, nothing tacky, is preferable.
